This may have been covered previously;, my apologies if it has, just direct me to the answer.  The question is: I want to make a bootable CD that will start a program that is larger than 2.88 gig.  Previously I would make a bootable CDRom and then using autoexec.bat refer it to a directory containing the program that needed to be started.  Of course my bootable CDRom contained an autoexec.bat and config.sys that would allow oakcdrom.sys and mscdex.exe to be loaded and the CDRom drive assigned a drive letter in DOS.
This worked fine and then sata CDRoms arrived and the newer chipsets so that the CDRom drive can not be assigned a drive letter.  How to I get around this and does ezb easyboot get around this problem and how do I use it?

Inside you have example on autoexec.bat and config.sys together with necessary driver in a zip-file.
Note1: do not remove your originally support for “standard” CD/DVD-ROM reader support, you still need system-files for this.
Note2: As I don’t have any sata CDRom to test with I can’t to 100 % guide you, but it seems to me you have knowledge about dos-commands :;):

You may want to update your motherboard bios and/or your sata CD-Rom firmware. I have sata cd-roms i deal with on a regular basis and do not have the problem with assigning a drive letter to them with oakcdrom.sys and mscdex as you describe.

If you have another sata CD-Rom (different brand) laying around you should try it first.

Obviously I meant to say 2.88 meg not gig.  I think most of the problem might be the chipsets since when you have an ide CDRom I still can't boot and find the CDRom drive with either oakcdrom.sys or gcdrom.sys.  Now move the CDRom drive to an older chipset and there is no problem.

It may or it may not be. Personally I have 2 computers that do not work, of which one I have others like it so i know it's not easyboot. The other uses the Intel 975x chipset, I have not come accross another to verify whether or not it is a chipset issue with easyboot on that one or not.

What is your problem chipset?
If others will confirm or deny problems with this chipset and yours it may be worth a bug report.
That being said I think easyboot is overdue for an update anyways....

Same chipset here, Motherboard ASUS P5Q, same problem.

doesn't find the CDROM. It's an IDE drive (BENQ 1655) attached to the onboard IDE connector (40-1 pin PRI_EIDE). In  BIOS it is recognized as  P-ATA device with UDMA-2, in Device Manager as

BENQ DVD LS DW 1655 SCSI CDRom Device

I'm a bit confused about the word 'SCSI' in the name. It's the only device on the IDE signal cable.

Any help highly appreciated.

If you guys haven't already, since you have the same chipset I would post it over in the bugs part of the forum as a possible chipset problem with a link back to this post. Maybe xoben will do an update for us soon.

Mine uses an ICH7 controllers which I know work with easyboot.
