Run XP sp3 and Hiren 9.9 from one DVD Tutor

Hi


To be able to have and run both Windows XP sp3 and Hiren's BootCD from one
DVD Do as steps Below (This tutor is written based on asking some users by
messaging me):

============================
1_ Copy all contents of your XP sp3 setup cd to folder "disk1" in EasyBoot
Installed directory.

2_ Extract All contents of Hiren's BootCD 9.9.ISO to folder "disk1" in
EasyBoot Installed directory.

3_ Run EasyBoot and Make menu buttons below :

_Run XP sp3 setup
_Run Hiren's Boot CD 9.9
_(Other buttons that you need for example "Boot From Hard Disk")

4_ Use Commands below to run your programs:

For "Run XP sp3 setup" us command:bcdw /I386/SETUPLDR.BIN
For "Run Hiren's Boot CD 9.9" use command:bcdw /hbcd/isolinux.bin
For "Boot From Hard Disk" use command:boot 80

5- Make Iso

I checked by VMware 6.5 was OK

Thanks a bunch, as i type i'm building the iso file, a WXPSP3 unattended install and the choice to boot from hiren's bootcd, wish me luck with the test process in virtual box (yn)

Hi madar, i've succesfully made the .iso file (a WXPSP3 unattended install (with programs slipstreamed in the $OEM$ folder)


I've gone trough the installation process, all but the unattended section of installing the programs i copied over the $OEM$\$1\Install\

I used this RunOnceEx.cmd script:

As i understood, this should bring up a window showing the installation progress (and installing the selected programs)

It doesn't do what it's supossed to, wich makes me sad :(

I hope you or any of you guys would give me some heads up or tips on howto successfully make this RunOnceEx.cmd script to work, because, now that i remember, all of the files contained in the $OEM$\$1\Install folder were copied over to the %system_drive% (wich is C:\) but they were not executed :S

I hope i made myself clear

1.Didn't you forget to write winnt.sif in I386 folder as below ?

[Unattended]
   OemPreinstall=yes

if you don't it will not run oem files


let me know about progress of your work please

I did change the source CD  (it was an already modified unattended windows xp sp3 cd)

And voilá... :D

I integrated drivers with nLite, modified the custom answers so i get my unattended CD working.

Went through all the process but didn't finished the iso..

Now, i went to the folder where i selected to copy over the xp installation files (wich i called wxpsp3)

Selected all of the contents and moved the files to the easyboot\disk1\ folder

Copied over to the disk1\ folder all of the contents of the latest Hiren's BootCD (10.0)

Opened easyboot and play around with it a little...

Now i hace a bootcd menu (16 bits ) :;):

Then, i followed your directions on the command to input so it loads winxp and hiren's bootcd

Build up the iso file...

Ran virtual box and expect... :p

Everything installed OK, all of the OEM files copied over to the hard disk at textbased system installation.

Gui installation was TOTALLY UNATTENDED, rebooted and at first logon the cmdlines.txt called RunOnceEx.cmd and did all of the installation progress, my programs are now installed automatically (so i have no need to do a single click in all of the installation)

Everything is working as expected, and im very happy working in a new version for this DVD.

I came into a problem loading Hiren's BootCD 10.0 in the new version of my always-changing-multiboot-dvd, this time i added wifiway 1.0, but in the time i try to load hiren's bootcd off the menu, all goes ok, but when i select an app to run, a message saying :

ERROR: Can't read from archive file / Unexpected end of file (maybe corrupt)
Process aborted.

and it leaves me in the command line

M:\

Plz help, i'm stuck i dunno what to do next, i tried and figured out that it could be that the files were corrupt indeed, and then i copied over all of the files in the Hiren's BootCD to the disk1\ folder

Builded the iso again, and tested it, nothing worked :|

Same problem again (same message)

Hi fsaaib

I don't know what is problem,any way the tips below may be some help:

_In Some Boot programs,the loader is sensetive to uppercase and lowercase
letters.i mean in some types the name of all files and folders in root must be
uppercase/or/lowercase to work.so you should be careful when making iso.
for example when making iso by ultraiso,you can adjust that to make all letters
uppercase and.....

Well, the thing in here is that the loader DID LOADED correctly the isolinux.bin file (hiren's bootcd), but when i tried to load any single app off the menu, it suddenly comes out with the banging message saying that the files might be corrupt, and i cannot seem to find the answer to my priers in here, i don't know why (really) is it loading the XP setup, the WiFiWay, the Hiren's BootCD menu, but no process can be run from the menu itself, this is just the ONLY problem i've came across the build of this DVD, and i'm willing to fix this unknown error, somehow.

Hope you guys understand my need to solve this problem since its the only thing that its pushing me away from success.

I have recently tested hiren-10 using suggested command from madar “bcdw /hbcd/isolinux.bin” and it works as expected :)

Test with only having hiren’s folder Hbcd in easyboot\disk1 (leave everything else out for this test) and do not check anything in option when creating ISO file (hide boot folder and hide files can be checked).

Test and report result back to us :cool:

Hi there, i did do the test of running the hiren's boot cd (wichever version i add to the project) runs smooth, hassle free and no errors during the creation of the iso file, nor runing off the iso on virtual box for testing, i ran all of the apps in the hiren's bootcd for testing purposes obviously, and everything was just fine...

I know this is off-topic (perhaps) or might i start a new thread about this new discussion (anyone interested ?)


Sorry to bug you with this kind of questions, but indeed i want to be able to run all of this solutions off the DVD, since i have plenty of space left to make the build, and since wifiway runs perfect on the latest build i've made (the one that causes trouble with Hiren's BootCD) i was wondering; that there might be a possible explanation to this error.

I WILL make another build late this night (after some beers, because i need to relax) and post out the results in here.
