Hello out there.I´m a new member of this forum and very newbie to programming, but struggling to understand. I have made a working UBCDW dvd. Have made a dvd with Easyboot and tried to make this setup: Paragon HD Manager 2010 MS PE Norton Ghost 15 MS PE UBCDW. Paragon HD Manager works fine, using Balders Iso script, but when i do the same with Ghost 15 I get this annoying message "Press any key to boot from cd/dvd, and i have to be very fast to act or it boots drive C:" Is there any way to get rid of that. NB. When i boot from the Original cd this message do not appear.?. next problem. When i boot UBCDW (using Balders Iso script), it starts booting up in memory, but about half into the procces, it stops and displaying:"IASTOR55.SY_ is corrupt/or broken, and thats it?. I have read a lot of the mails in the forum and i´m deply impressed of you guys programming skills. and i will be happy if anyone can help me. Many thanks to Balder for his scripts and knowledge Posted by balder on Aug. 23 2010,18:11
@ CjokerAs this seems to be you very first post in this forum – I say welcome ![]() Quote: ”Press any key to boot from cd/dvd” It’s strange that you don’t get the same message with the original build (ISO) of Ghost-15 ![]() I’m unsure why Ghost “misbehaves” like this Anyway – look for a file bootfix.bin ![]() Start searching for bootfix.bin in folder “boot” and remove this file - it is most likely that file that causes you trouble ![]() ----------------------------------------------------- Quote: “When i boot UBCDW….” What method did you use to integrate UBCDW ![]() Do you run UBCDW.ISO from RAM (launch ISO as it is) – or did you extract folder i386 to the root of EasyBoot (disk1 is the root for EasyBoot if you wonder) balder Posted by Cjoker on Aug. 24 2010,06:00
Thanks Balder for your quick reply for my booting problems, with ghost 15 and UBCDW.I´m sorry for giving you wrong information concerning The "press any key to boot from cd" in ghost 15 cd. The message comes ofcourse when i boot from cd,but it do not start booting on C: drive. Thanks for your suggestion for fixing it. Concerning UBCDW. I have used your ISO script and folowed your instruktions. First i guessed it was a Zip problem, with IASTOR.sy_ deleted the files and tryed the procces again. no luck When i boot UBCD from a cd it works perfect. Thanks for your help so far Cjoker Posted by balder on Aug. 24 2010,14:48
@CjokerQuote: ”it do not start booting on C:” You didn’t by any chance check “Run ISO from RAM” in script when you integrated ghost15 ![]() Note: you don’t need to check “Run ISO from RAM” with ISO-files like Ghost15 as this ISO is built using source from a NT-6 system (Vista and Win-7 and server2008 is typically NT6-systems) Test to integrate ISO leaving “Run ISO from RAM” unchecked - it loads a bit faster this way too ![]() Concerning UBCDW I guess that you run ISO from RAM – correct? As we are dealing with a NT5-system, this is necesary – skip my script and test this different ways from post nr: 35 < HERE > Note: avast__BART_CD_2009 uses same OP-systems as source as UBCDW does (NT5-systems typically: WinXP or server-2003 including any servicepack) ![]() Regards balder Posted by Cjoker on Aug. 27 2010,06:52
Thanks you very much Balder, for your eccellent advise.Regarding Ghost 15 MS PE, i opened the boot folder in ultraiso--deleted the file bootfix.bin, and it works perfekt. Regarding UBCDW: I extracted all the files from the UBCDW iso file using ultraiso, to disk1,extracted the boot file and placed it in ezboot folder, renaming it to partpe.bif, and it worked, but a few of the applications did not work. Then following your advise i copied all ubcdw files to disk1 folder and the run command to w2ksect.bin I did not check joliet or allow lowercase, and now everything works perfect. When paragon hd Manager and Ghost15 start booting up,both programs comes with the message: "No PXE stack, but it continue to boot up. What does it mean. Thanks for your help so far. Kindly regards from Cjoker Posted by balder on Aug. 27 2010,08:32
@CjokerQuote: “Thanks you very much Balder, for your eccellent advise.” He, he – thanks - I’m blushing over my whole face ![]() Great that you get things up and run ![]() Quote: ”programs comes with the message: "No PXE stack, but it continue to boot up” This is a message from grub boot “manager” – and has no impact to anything, as we do not need any “PXE-stack” to launch ISO-files the way we do. You can read about PXE-booting < HERE > (excellent described by “diddy”) A brief explanation how script works: Script automatically creates a grub-based “kicker-image” that is specially designed for each different ISO you choose to integrate into EasyBoot. If you are observant you can notice a short “blink” in the end of process when script is working. It’s there in that short “blink” this “kicker-image” is created and then transferred to folder “ezboot” in EasyBoot And that odd “Run ISO from RAM” ![]() If you for example check “Run ISO from RAM” a special made floppy image (firadisk.gz) is implemented to created folder ISO in folder disk1 Note: “firadisk” is only used if you check “Run ISO from RAM” and is automatically used to every ISO you here after choose to “Run from RAM” (I have created “subroutines” in script to take care of issues like this – there is a lot of different “subroutines” – I can tell you that) However back to that “No PXE stack”. Text like these that pops up, can be of grate interest for those that dig deep into how grub can be used – that’s why I have chosen to not hex-edit this text to something more “familiar”, as it has no impact to how my “kicker-images” are working ![]() Regards balder Posted by Cjoker on Aug. 28 2010,05:24
Thanks Balder for your informative explanation of what PXE stack is.I remade my build, using your iso script ommitting run iso from ram, meaning i run iso as it is,and my paragon hd manager ms PE loads about 20% faster, very nice, but when i do the same with Norton Ghost 15 Ms PE ,i get problems. when i boot up Ghost 15, it stops with the grub4dos. and a blinking cursor?. Hope you can help me. Posted by balder on Aug. 28 2010,15:55
@CjokerQuote: “when i boot up Ghost 15, it stops with the grub4dos. and a blinking cursor?” It shouldn’t matter if you launch Ghost15-ISO directly or from RAM ![]() This ISO (if it really is a genuine Ghost15 rescue ISO-file you got) is very reliable as object to integrate using my script as it is based on a NT6-system ![]() If I understand you right – you did this: 1. First you integrated Ghost15-ISO with checkbox “Run ISO from RAM” and it worked well. 2. Then during rebuild you unchecked “Run ISO from RAM” - as this isn’t needed to this ISO-file because it is based on a NT6-system – but now it halts with a blinking cursor ![]() If this is what happens – then it makes no sense at all ![]() The only thing I can think on is that you may need 512 MB RAM or more when testing as NT6-systems (Vista/Win7/server-2008 need at least 512 MB RAM to work properly) ![]() Regards balder Posted by Cjoker on Aug. 31 2010,06:03
Thanks Balder. There must be something wrong with my Ghost15 ISO,but when i use the Firadisk approach,(from Balders ISO Script),then it runs fine,so i will leave it like that, Now. I Now have a Nice Working DVD with everything Working, thanks to Balders eccelent advise. Paragon HD Manager MS PE Paragon Adaptive Restore MS PE Ghost 15 MS PE UBCD4WIN Kindly Regards from Cjoker |
