@morokatQuote: "Run Backtrack ( Please help command run this system thanks you)" It took me some time to find a working download to this backtrack-5 (linux-server was down as well for a time) ![]() Anyway... I downloaded 'BackTrack 5' 32-bit ISO-file from < HERE > Note: you need the ISO-file of BackTrack and you don't need to register (push on 'DOWNLOAD') Then follow tutorial below: 1. Copy backtrack iso-file to folder disk1 2. Rename iso-file to exactly BACKTRACK5.ISO (you must use Caps to name= BIG LETTERS) 3. Open iso-file (I used UltraIso) and extract folder 'casper' to folder disk1 4. Still having ISO-file opened with UltraIso you open folder casper inside iso-file and delete file 'filesystem.squashfs' 5. Save changes to ISO-file (now reduced to about 65 MB in size as we deleted file 'filesystem.squashfs' inside ISO-file - and if UltraIso creates a backup of ISO-file, then remove backup-file as this is such a large file) 6. Download my 'kicker-image' (backtrack5.ima) from < HERE > 7. Copy backtrack5.ima to folder EZBOOT 8. Use menu command in EasyBoot menu: run backtrack5.ima 9 Create ISO in EasyBoot with only 'Joliet' checked This seems to work though BackTrack is a little bit hazardous to get running correctly ![]() Note: I managed to partly get BackTrack up and run in 'Virtual PC' but instead 'burned' to a USB stick where I made it run perfectly at once. My guess is that it should run from DVD as well - but test in virtual environment so you don't lose a lot of DVD's ![]() balder Posted by morokat on Apr. 03 2012,13:51

@morokatQuote: "when its boot show like in picture" This indicates 'kicker-image' doesn't work correctly ![]() Question is why ![]() I have found the reason why kicker-image failed ![]() Image is corrupt ![]() Sorry ![]() Follow tutorial in post nr;2 and download new kicker-image and replace the one in folder EZBOOT with new downloaded image -------------- Edit: Test performed from DVD and also from USB Works great regards balder Posted by morokat on Apr. 03 2012,14:57

All of which simply dump me to the grub4dos command line. Double checking your instuctions, I don't see any typos, or steps that I have left out. Any advice? Thanks. I forgot to mention I'm using EasyBoot 6.5

@milroWelcome to EasyBoot @milro ![]() Quote: ”I have followed these instructions with BackTrack 5” I’ll take a look into it when I’m back to my home residence As I’m on ‘vacation’ I cannot do much to test anything – I won’t be home for at least 4 or 5 days ![]() I’ll be in touch when home… ![]() balder Posted by balder on Jul. 19 2012,12:36
@milroQuote. ”I have followed these instructions with BackTrack 5, 5 R1, and 5 R2, 32-bit” Hmm.. I have my doubt that you to 100% followed my tutorial ![]() Note: I was able to download BackTrack 5_ R2_32-bit I followed tutorial exactly and tested from ISO (DO NOT USE VmWare or 'Virtual PC' to test ISO) Instead use ‘mobalivecd’ download < HERE > Note: it is a terrible slow process to test BackTrack this way ![]() However as I'm not at my home residence I instead bought a 32 GB USB stick - or to be true - my son who has a media company bought it to me. He, he things has changed, its time for ‘payback’, he, he ![]() I used 'Easyboot>>Burn>>Write USB Disk' to make EasyBoot menu run from USB stick. BackTrack ISO (tested ISO via ‘mobalivecd’ and backtrack from USB using Easyboot menu) worked perfectly – exactly as told in my tutorial. Are you sure you renamed - in total size reduced ISO-file - to exactly BACKTRACK5.ISO You cannot use a name like this backtrack5.iso or BACKTRACK5.iso ![]() Name to ISO-file must be exactly BACKTRACK5.ISO and ISO must be copied to folder disk1 including folder casper extracted from ISO-file to folder disk1 balder Posted by milro on Jul. 19 2012,19:20
It was working the whole time, but failing in VirtualBox! ![]() I should have done further testing. ![]() Thanks for your help! |
