Hi can any one tell me about Symantec's Ghost functions.
I am looking for a software which will take backup of my OS (windows 98se + all drivers (audio, modem etc) + softwares (which are presently on my win 98se OS like Microsoft word, Adobe Pagemaker, Registry First Aid, Winamp etc softwares)
What exactly I want is, that I want to format my windows 98se (which is on partition size of 3.3GB on C:\drive) and install a fresh copy of win 98se along with the same softwares without further installing them.
Just format win98se and restore it to the previous stage (with all drivers and softwares) from a CD (not DVD). Is it possible with Ghost or any other software.
Recently I found a software which will gather all the drivers on our system, and which makes an exe file so that we can install directly all the drivers without going for 2 or more cds. It's name is Driver Magician.
Right now my C:\ drive is 3.3 GB, if at all there is a software with the facilities which I mentioned above, will chaniging my C:\ drive partition size from 3.3 GB to some 2.5 GB something like that have some effect??? I wonder. Pls let me know.

Doing a "clean" install and having your driver and application restored may not be possible...
For the driver part, it may work with the software you mentionned but wouldn't you prefer installing the latest drivers available for your hardware?
For the software part, some program will work just by moving their folder from one computer to another... but the majority of them are adding some keys to the Windows registry and such programs won't work just by copying the program folder. Anyway, the point of installing a clean OS is to get rid of all these garbages installed over the years.
If you want to clone your hard drive, Norton Ghost will do but I prefer Acronis True Image. You can diminish the partition size to 2.5Gb as long as there is enough free space (that is not having your 3.3Gb all filled up).
Hope this helps
