Hi,

I added ERD 2005 as mentioned in one of your replies to someone. I have made myself a multiboot cd having Acronis True Image, Acronis Disk Director, Hiren's Bootcd, Windows XPE, and ERD 2005. All the programs work properly and load properly except ERD 2005. While booting ERD 2005 and detecting network configurantions, a dialog appears whose title is Factory.EXE and it displays the message Failed to install network adapter -- check WINBOM. I have followed all your instructions or should i say three steps and have added all other files to \disk1 folder (files which were extracted from ISO of ERD 2005). What am i doing wrong?

Am waiting for your guidance.

Seems to me that you have activated “Joliet” and/or “DOS(8.3)” when making ISO in EasyBoot ???

Please this is very important, test with only having “Optimize” activated when making ISO. Skip “Joliet” and “DOS(8.3)”.

Note: It’s the same if you adding BartPe to your CD. Only activate “Optimize”.

Thanks very much eureka for quick reply.

I have not enabled Joliet and/or DOS(8.3) option, just optimize. How could i forget this after reading so many of your posts :). Could it be due to some files not being there when these should be there or vice versa.

Yes I do agree. This problem is not related to the start-up procedure of ERD5 (as it do start), I really don’t now what else it could be.

Note1: I have tested this using Microsoft Virtual PC and in “reality” (using a CD/RW) and it works.
Note2: If you activate Joliet and/or DOS(8.3) you do get this behaviour. That’s why I thought that was the problem.

Is it an ISO (ERD5.ISO) that you copied files from? And further more, does this ISO run well from bye it’s own?
If it runs well from its own ISO-file, well then there must be some kind of “misbehaviour” when coping files from that ISO to EasyBoot\disk1.

Sorry. That’s all I can figure out for the moment…

Yes, the files were extracted from ERD ISO and when i burn it to CD it works without any problem. Let me see if i can make it work with some other settings.

Thanks for your prompt replies. I really appreciate it.

Quote from ”deity” in earlier topic related to problems that occur when dragging files from ISO (using UltraIso): “Never mind about the "bootsect.bin". I have mounted my ERD 2005 ISO with Daemon Tools and then went to the CD drive it mounted and just copied all the I386 contents from the CD to the disk1 folder and then I was able to use the replace tool successfully with the last two steps. The above error I was getting when I had used Ultra ISO to open my ERD 2005 iso and then Drag and dropped the I386 contents to the disk1 folder. Why would UltraISO mess it up? I thought that was its purpose to create and be able to extract files without corruption. Weird!”.

Comments from eureka: Getting corrupted files when dragging them here and there is not any new problem… Happens to me too :(  I always use WinRar when dragging/copying files and folders from inside of ISO. But I do think that UltraIso is a reliable program in this matter – could be something else that make “things go wrong”.

To GregH

Well this message: “Failed to install network adapter -- check WINBOM” is not related to my tutorial for ERD2005. And further more, it’s not related to EasyBoot. It’s related to your network card/drivers for your network card.

Quote from Winternal: ” This message displays when ERD Commander 2005 does not recognize the network card on the machine.” Read here: http://www.winternals.com/Support/KnowledgeBase/Article30447.aspx

Note: As I don’t have this problem for my own, I’m unsure how to physical solve this.

Strange is that I have tested ERD2005 on several different computers without problem ??? .

I don’t now if you have built your own “ERD2005”. I mean BartPe or Reatogo. If not, Links here:

Thanks for the reply eureka..

The confusing thing is that it works fine when I burn the ERD 2000 iso to a cd on its own, It has no problem finding the network card. Its only when I add it to easyboot that I have the problem.

I know my way around easyboot pretty well and have managed to overcome difficluties withalmost  all progs Ive tried to add but this problem is persisting.

Ill keep trying.....and Ill keep you guys informed if any progress.

Thanks

Greg

I now that this is just a wild guessing  , but anyway….
When making ISO, please test with using UltraIso instead of EasyBoot>>”Make ISO”

And read this: http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=301
Interesting post from asm51 here: http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin....;hl=erd
