Forum: EasyBoot Topic: Any Way to have ISO burnt to USB Key? started by: mmek Posted by mmek on Mar. 23 2005,17:31
Hello all,I was just wondering, is there a way to burn the image to a USB Key instead of a CD? I want to use my USBKey to boot some utilities. It is so much easier than carrying around a cd. Please let me know. Thanks. Mike Posted by smartsaga on Mar. 24 2005,00:49
Yes there is a way, kind of. Some Linux distributions (that's what they are called) have support to boot from a USB key disk. How is this useful to you? Well, there are programs called boot loaders that are in charge of "booting" the operating system: Windows, Linux, Solaris, BSD, etc. There are ways to install such boot loaders to boot multiple operating systems from a USB key disk. Here are some links to USB bootable Linux Distros: < http://featherlinux.berlios.de/ > < http://www.flashlinux.org.uk/ > < http://www.flonix.com/article.php?id_article=102 > And of course some info to actually make your own bootable USB key disk: < http://www.weethet.nl/english/hardware_bootfromusbstick.php > < http://www.prime-expert.com/flashboot/index.php > < http://www.embeddingwindows.com/ > Hope this helps. Have a good one. |
