Is there any to have a CD expire? So I can force people to download the latest version of my software?

Yes there is soft of.Any decent user can buypass it though.There is an Pebuilder Plugin called ExpirationDate.You can use its Exe that will cause a memory overflow=crash if the date its executed is out of the range you want.Theoritically speaking you can call it from T11 in the newer windows setups causing the whole system to crash.(look for svpack.inf ) or even better make an AutoIT script called on T9(runonceexe) to check for date and copy it to HDD followed by an autorun registy input to cause the system crash on log in.This will panic the normal user but not an expert.... At any rate if you are moderate user all those are way too much work to bother for locking something up |
