this doesn't want to work for me. is this really what autoexec is supposed to say
@echo off
MSCDEX.EXE /D:tomato /L:X PATH=a:\;a:\dos;x:\win98 install.exe
what does mscdex.exe /D:tomato /L:X mean and is it really supposed to be tomato...that doesn't make sense to me. this is what I get for output
CD-ROM Device Driver for IDE (Four Channels Supported) ©Copyright Oak Technology Inc. 1993-1996 Driver Version : V340 Device Name : TOMATO Transfer Mode : Programmed I/O Drive 0: Port= 170 (Secondary Channel), Master IRQ= 15 Firmware version : MSCDEX Version 2.25 Copyright © Microsoft Corp. 1986-1995. All rights reserved. Drive X: = Driver TOMATO unit 0 Bad command or file name A:\> any ideas would be great. thank you

To blaze85
Thanks for nice feedback. Anyway just to clarify some stuff…
Quote: ” what does mscdex.exe /D:tomato /L:X mean and is it really supposed to be tomato” “tomato” is just a “name substitute”. You may call it “potatoes” or “Pluto” or whatever. Note: Same name must be in “name substitute” in config.sys file. No need to change this.
And yes, I don’t now exactly what version of WinMe (or win98)-CD you are using. But as you pointed out: “it's setup.exe in my case”. Good point there. But in my case it is “install.exe”. No big deal, you figured it out your self…
Regards eureka
