hello all and thank you for keeping this place as useful as it is
so I have an IMG file 46080 KB  -yes its pretty big- created by easyboot tool
using win98 floppy as aseed & contanining NC5 , NU8
,partition magic and Drive Image
problem is it will never get emulated (memdisk) errors                                 are::

disk I/O error
or halt at progress Dots......
or halt at the word "booting"
Then i found this discussion which suggests using winimage and use "Export to an image with a mbr"
http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin...........

the fix works out the emulation problem and brings another problem that is win98 boot sector shows up the screen of choosing between boot from HDD or CD
and clicking either leads to rerender the same screen again

obviously it lost contact with the system files
I've tested a backup of the IMG file before applying the winimage Export and it still work perfectly without emulation

I need the emulation to get past the NC5 beeps every now and then whining for trying to write to write-protected disk
thank you in advance

Hello darkane, this is a problem of Windows 98 (for running on harddisk image only), my suggestion is:

1) If re-writable is not necessary, use 'run xxx.img' (xxx.img is the original image created by EasyBoot) to load large floppy images.
2) Otherwise, use only standard 1.44/2.88MB images by MEMDISK

I've just tried DOS boot sector now
Emulation worked through memdisk
and the system started
then error reading drive A:
abort/ignore/fail
all the files were found on cdrom  C:\  "i am using VMware"
and norton commander is working but with the same following error::

Error on drive C:
sharing Violation or disk not formatted

I thought that emulation will prevent an error like this I even did it before and this discussion was my guide
http://forum.ezbsystems.net/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=349

this was my command
bcdw /ezboot/isolinux.bin  memdisk initrd=dos-46080-mbr.img

I hope that my problem is easier and more determined this time

hi xoben
ok I thought now maybe i can use the 1.44/2.88
like you said and put the dos applications on the CD Root
will that save me the horrible peebs? i wish so
and also i ll try to fix the cd-rom drive letter as R:\
for instance so i can include it as a path in my autoexec.bat
paths for partitionmagic and norton commander ..etc
that will satisfy my needs the most
thank you xoben
