Hi,

does anyone know how/where i can get a Win 2003 bootloader for easyboot?

I want to use easyboot in combination with bartpe on a dell server, so i have to use w2k3, because drivers are only available for this os (or win 2008).

Hi schd

You can use bootloader that are delivered with EasyBoot (w2ksect.bin) you have this file in EasyBoot\disk1\ezboot-folder.
Note: this is only for server-2003

You can of course change name to something else to file w2ksect.bin. I guess 2003.bin or whatever.

Procedure is: copy folder i386 and ident files (win51 etcetera) to EasyBoot\disk1
Use command as usual:  run w2ksect.bin  (or what name you set to this bootloader file).

You can change name to BartPE folder-i386 and hex edit files in an appropriate way. Read here

the problem with this solution is, that w2ksect.bin is not compatible with w2k3 i386 files.

i always get the error "ntldr is corrupt. system cannot boot". => changed i386 files to win xp, no problem. (but i cant use xp as i wrote before)

Hi schd

Just tested with server-2003_sp1 (I used my tutorial) I don’t get any "ntldr is corrupt. system cannot boot".
It works fine using w2ksect.bin.

Bye the way, you haven’t been hex edit setupldr.bin in folder i386 that belongs to server-2003 have you?

Hi schd

Quote: “What do i have to change in the file?” Answer is: nothing!
But you should be aware that if hex editing setupldr.bin in server-2003_sp1 or WinXP_64-bit or ERD Commander 2007 setupldr.bin gets corrupted. But as you haven’t done any hex edit this is no issue to “dig in to”.

As I stated earlier my built (ISO with server-2003_sp1) start up fine using original w2ksect.bin :)

Question is why yours doesn’t.
Bye the way…What do you mean with “Win 2003”? Is it not server-2003 we are dealing with here - or is it something different that I don’t have knowledge about ???

After building a new BartPE with 2003sp1 cd, i replaced setupldr.bin => works now with the w2ksect.bin
Don't know why i got this error.

I meant with Win 2003, that i probably have to use another bootloader than w2ksect.bin because of the error.

Hi schd

Great that you fixed your problem :)  but remember in future: “be aware that if hex editing setupldr.bin in server-2003_sp1 or WinXP_64-bit or ERD Commander 2007 setupldr.bin gets corrupted”. Plenty of users have bad experience of this issue :(

Anyway, you solved this problem :D
