I've made an Easyboot CD with a liveCD name "NoName RXPE". It's a live Chinese XPCD with a lot of software in it which is located in the startmenu.
It runs good in Easyboot "CD", but when I put it in the USB drive with many ways, it sometimes fails in the mid-way-boot to XP desktop / hang up , or boot into the XP desktop but the startmenu is empty (no software loaded). It's very strange ... as I find that the software are still in the USB drive but only not loaded.
So I try to do this the other way :
1. Use HP format utility to format my 4GB USB drive to Fat32
2. Copy files "grldr", "grub.exe", "menu.lst", "All RXPE" .... all neccessary file to USB drive. Then it boots and works fine with all the software in the XP startmenu.
I'm thinking , if this USB drive boot ok, can I add this to my Easyboot usb menu with the other software to become one of the multi-boot. As I've mentioned before it fails me no matter how I made it , either by winbuilder-ISO or winbuilder-usb.
Can I make a usb drive bootable "rxpe" into a iso file , if it is possible, then it is convenient to add it into the Easyboot usb menu. Thanks.

Hope I have understand you right here
You basically having problem with a RAM-loaded WinPE (sometimes it hang up). Correct?
This WinPE (XPE.ISO) is most likely built using “server-2003_sp1” as source (this is a NT5-system). Unfortunately it has been hex edit to use different folder name.
You can launch this PE in many different ways. I’m going to give you several options at this point. Attention! For all 3 options below here - DO NOT CHECK: “Allow lower case, “DOS(8.3)” or “Joliet” leave them unchecked.
I tested following:
Option 1. Used easyboot-iso.script and checked “Run from RAM”. I pointed to the whole big XPE.ISO-file. I used command that is recommended in script. This works fine as long as users do not activate “Launch support for USB2.0”. If this option is used, all disk units are hided, and therefore worthless. But if launched “normally” (not activating “Launch support for USB2.0”) – it works super (but take some time to load to RAM).
Option 2. I made a copy of XPE.ISO and opened ISO with UltraISO. I extracted folder “Outtool” to a temporary folder and then deleted folder “Outtool” in ISO-file and saved ISO using name XPE2.ISO (ISO-file is now much less in size). I used easyboot-iso.script to integrate this reduced ISO (XPE2.ISO) to EasyBoot without checking “Run from RAM”. I used menu command that script told me to use. I then moved ISO-file XPE2.ISO from folder ISO in EasyBoot\disk1 to a temporary place – and then created ISO as usual in EasyBoot followed by using easyboot-usb.script to get ISO on USB as usual. I then copied folder “Outtool” to the root of USB and ISO-file XPE2.ISO from temporary place to folder ISO on USB. This solution works fine, but again same problem if you choose to activate: “Launch support for USB2.0”.
Option 3. Open XPE.ISO-file and extract: "Bootfont.bin", "Rxpe.im_", "Rxpe.sif" and folder "Rxpe" to EasyBoot\disk1 Extract BOOT-file from XPE.ISO-file (I used UltraIso) and save BOOT file with the name xpe.bif to folder ezboot. Use menu command in EasyBoot:  run xpe.bif Create ISO in EasyBoot and use easyboot-usb.script to get ISO on USB as usual. Then extract folder “Outtool” from XPE.ISO to the root of USB This solution works fine, but again same problem if you choose to activate: “Launch support for USB2.0”.
Can you please test this options to see if this increase stability to this XPE when launched
Note1: It didn’t matter what solutions I used to launch this XPE-system – it never hangs from my different USB units (I even used a harddisk connected with a USB-adapter – read HERE and it works fine)
Note2: Problem when activating “Launch support for USB2.0” is related to "plpbt.bin" and not to script(s) or EasyBoot!

Hello balder
GREAT THANKS, GREAT THANKS
Your 3 options are all successfully made and test 100% fine with no software missing in the "Startmenu".
I test the 3 options for only half an hour. So it means you test them for many hours. I am really sorry that you spent that lot times for me. I apologize and thanks from my heart. You solve my big problem , as I use this program most and this is important to me. And only because of this RXPE , I've an idea a while ago to make a BartPE myself to solve this problem. I've tried BartPE 4 years ago, and I know it will take me a lot of time to finish it. And now, I don't have to, that's why I really have to say thank you to you, thanks.
By the way, if you don't mind, I have one more question related to this RXPE. When this RXPE start , like Windows XP, it ask for "Press F6 for SATA, SCSI, RAID drivers".
As you know, the HP/Compaq notebook's BIOS are already AHCI option hiddened. It means even if I boot up this RXPE, I still can't see the notebook harddisk (C:) unless I change the AHCI to IDE in BIOS (of course this is impossible). What I want to ask is ... can I and how do I integrate some AHCI drivers in this RXPE with like "nLite". Actually I'm sure "nLite" won't do, as once it start , it ask for Window XP. But if I press "F6" key is useless, how come I have a floppy drive to put in a AHCI driver like "ICH 8/9/10" nowadays !!
I think it's quite difficult to solve , but still hope you can have a good idea for me and for all the others. Thanks in advance.

Hello balder
I'm sorry to tell you that I fail RXPE in my 2.5" harddisk !!!
Before I test your 3 options individually in my 4GB usb drive , they all work fine. So I add them in my 2.5" harddisk which contains many Easyboot programs in it.
I add them this way (rxpe.lst) :
color black/cyan yellow/cyan color black/cyan yellow/cyan default 0
title RXPE999 --- USB 2.0 --- A find --set-root --ignore-floppies /iso/rxpeu2a.iso map /iso/rxpeu2a.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) boot
title RXPE999 --- USB 2.0 --- B find --set-root --ignore-floppies /iso/rxpeu2b.iso map /iso/rxpeu2b.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) boot
title RXPE999 --- Load into Memory --- Take some time find --set-root --ignore-floppies /iso/rxperam.iso map /iso/rxperam.iso (hd32) map --hook chainloader (hd32) boot
title Back to Main Menu find --set-root /mainmenu.lst configfile /mainmenu.lst ------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the same thing happen ... they all hang up at the begin start , on "RXPE design by NoName XXXXXX" (X=Chinese words)
If when boot up the Easyboot and I choose “Launch support for USB2.0” , then it reboot the Easyboot. I choose RXPE , at the very beginning start with "Loading Ramdisk Image", my computer restart and go straight to my Windows XP. I don't know what's wrong with it.
It's very strange , they all work fine on single iso with my 4GB usb drive. But all fail in my 2.5" harddisk. Do you know why. Thanks in advance.

Respond to post nr:3
Quote: ”GREAT THANKS, GREAT THANKS” He, he that’s what I call a nice feedback
Quote: "Press F6 for SATA, SCSI, RAID drivers" I usually create my “BartPE” using Reatogo approach, and I have to from time to time, update my drivers for harddisk units to be integrated in my Reatogo-PE.
I’m not 100% sure, but isn’t it “Iastor.sys” that is needed I have checked that you have following drivers integrated into this XPE.ISO: IaStor47.sy_ and IaStor89.sy_ but strangely not the common “Iastor.sys” - I may be totally wrong out here – but even if it is this driver you need, it’s still a problem to get it “on board”. You of course must check what driver you need before moving to next step
Note: you have to open and extract “Rxpe.im_ ”followed by open the extracted “Rxpe.img” – now you can reach “the system” - with its txtsetup.sif-file and the drivers themselves inside “rxpe\system32\drivers” I consider @ zia abbas as an far more expert comparing to my self in this issue – read HERE
Give @ zia abbas a hint and show the “audience” in this forum if this can be solved – it’s in did an interesting request and can hopefully help community to solve such problems in the future --------------------------------- Respond to post nr:4
I’m unsure what ISO-file you start – but test with practise “option 3” in my post nr:2. Using “option 3” - XPE.ISO is launched by EasyBoot internal menu command - not using grub.
Attention! Do not activate “Launch support for USB2.0” if you don’t need it. This is only for hardware (motherboards) that only support USB-1.1 at boot time. And further more – it partly interferes to BIOS and makes it impossible for this kind of PE-system based on an NT5-system to see any harddisk unit. So do not activate “Launch support for USB2.0” when using this kind of PE-system that are involved here.
If still having problems – well it can have many reasons. BIOS is a common trouble-maker. It can also be some hardware problem between this 2,5” USB disk and XPE.ISO-file when drivers is loaded. However, as it do work – and I know by experience that it do work – and you also proved it your self from you 4 GB-stick – it surely is a mysterious behaviour – and I have really no clue. Anyway if you didn’t use option 3 – please do so and see what happens
And now it's sleeping time zzzzzz
Best regard balder

Hello balder
Thanks for your reply.
Of course your tutorial was sucessful. You are right, may be it's because of my 2.5" harddisk problem. Or I may use Easyboot RXPE by my 4GB usb drive. Still I have to say thank you to you.
I have to end this topic. Thanks.

Hello balder
Finally I successfully made the RXPE in my USB Multi-programs and works fine.
Before, my usb drive was formatted as Fat32 and my 2.5" harddisk was NTFS. So I think it may because of this reason that RXPE boot improperly. Then I convert my 2.5" harddisk to Fat32 and copy all the content back to it. But the same thing as it was NTFS.
Finally I think it may because my 2.5" harddisk is password protected when first boot. So I removed this password iso file. Then the RXPE boot and run properly till to the end without any hang up. I've tried it many times, it's still fine.
Also, I test all the other programs and works normal and fine.
I rather prefer the RXPE runs fine other than the boot password protected. I'll forget about the password boot protect.
Many thanks to balder. Thanks

Quote: ” I'll forget about the password boot protect” He, he you are just like myself - nobody is perfect I’m glad you find the problem – this rocks –
Note: It shouldn’t make any difference if usb drive is formatted with FAT32 or with NTFS. I have built-in an automatically check when easyboot-usb.script is run. It works like this:
1. Script search if it can find a USB unit. If found, it continues its process. 2. Script now examines the found USB unit. 3. If it is a USB stick/thumb-drive it formats using FAT32. 4. If USB stick/thumb-drive is larger than 32GB it change format to NTFS to avoid the “32GB-limit” read HERE 5. If script when examine the found USB unit, find out that this is a “fixed disk” (in normal case a harddisk unit) – script automatically use NTFS when format. 6. Script continues its process…. Note: I can tell you that it took me much efforts to create this automatically check – and a lot of time to make it work properly
