Hi all, thanks for your help. I have been using Ghost 2003 and 7.5 coorporate versions to create and reimage laptops and PCs for years. I am so frustrated that I always run into issues where my boot disk does not work with different drive types. I have old dos floppies that sometimes it will boot and find the source and sometimes not. Sometimes it will find my external USB drive and sometimes not. I have several USB drives and I usually can find one that will be recognized.
I get so frustrated as I am always fixing someones pc and I always like to have a image backup. I would like to figure out what I;m missing and possibly create a flash drive with a menu in which I can select different options to make the process a little less painful and quicker.
Any help will be appreciates Thanks
-------------- Mike

@Rocketman
Welcome to this forum
Attention! When I below here discuss Ghost I mean DOS-version of Ghost not Ghost–32bit. I have tested using Ghost-2003 started from EasyBoot and Ghost-2003 easily recognize my usb device(s). Note: It seems that Ghost-v11 has the power to recognize sata-connected harddisks as well as any usb device. In same time Ghost-2003 might fail to recognize sata-connected harddisks. You should upgrade to Ghost-v11 (DOS-version). I recommend version 11.00 before version 11.5
Finally, it is possible to start EasyBoot from usb device (flash memory (usb stick) as well as from usb hard disk units). You can download this feature from here: http://web.telia.com/~u75404714/balder.html

Thanks Balder,
I appreciate your response. I will follow your advice and look at getting ghost 11 and download Win builder. Do you know of issues with hard drive manufacturers and their drives being recognized by ghost and DOS. I was even keeping track of drive manufacturers and keeping notes on my boot floppies as to which to use. It just think there should be a painless way to Image machines.
Thanks Again

To my acknowledge Ghost “reads” BIOS to recognize what kind of hard disks that’s connected to motherboard. It’s not DOS itself (or any harddisk driver) that’s being used to recognize what type of hard disk that’s connected to motherboard. As I said, Ghost “reads” (collect) information from BIOS.
If you connect some kind of USB device (USB hard disk unit as example) then Ghost v11 do recognize this unit and you can save or read ghost files from such unit. No driver is needed to recognize such USB unit. You only need driver (I mean hard disk driver) if you use BartPE or Reatogo or similarly concept.
I use this switch toghether with Ghost-v11: ghost.exe –auto Use auto switch in case your image file exceeds 2GB
